The left-footed lacy winger proved just how hungry he was in the sunny afternoon after latching a fine pass onto the path of Max Meyer who was found in the box but failed to have a shot on target after also playing the ball wide.
<a href="https://www.northamptonchron.co.uk/sport/football/cobblers-impress-they-... game ended in a goalless draw but the second 45 was started on a very bright note. Huntelaar was brought down in the box some minutes after the restart and Schalke got the lead finally after Geis buries the ball into the back of the net. Huntelaar got his name on the scoresheet after towering in a beautiful header from Meyer's cross to gift the home side a 2-0 lead.
Meyer almost scored a third but was denied by Hannover goalkeeper Zieler. Allan Saint-Maximin got Hannover back into the game after he smashed a fiery rebound into the net following Kenan Karaman's strike that bounced off the post.
But the home side once again restored their lead and proved that they deserved the win after Franco Di Santo found a loose ball come his way and fired home what was the winning goal.
